About our expedition

In April 2025, a team of four future doctors and one future dentist will embark on a humanitarian expedition to Uganda, where we will assist on Bwama Island, located in the picturesque Lake Bunyonyi at an altitude of 1962 meters.

We will operate in the Bwama Health Center, which has been providing free primary healthcare since 2012 and has had a significant impact on the local community. In addition to basic treatment, we will also focus on educating the local population about the importance of health and preventive measures.

We operate under the auspices of the Section for Tropical and Travel Medicine, which has been regularly supplying the Bwama Health Center with medicines, equipment, and professional healthcare staff since 2005.

Together, we strive to improve the health status and quality of life of the local communities.

About Uganda

Uganda is a landlocked country in East Africa. It boasts snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains and vast savannah plains. With around 47 million inhabitants, Uganda is highly multi-ethnic and multilingual, with English and Swahili as official languages. Christianity is the predominant religion, but there is also a significant Muslim community. Its economy relies heavily on agriculture, with coffee being the most important crop exported worldwide. In recent years, numerous oil deposits have been discovered, opening doors to a new era of economic development and stability for Uganda. A vibrant and rich cultural heritage, intertwined with traditional music, dance, and art, characterizes the everyday life of the local population.
